Sena Latif

Sena Latif is Director for Economic Diplomacy in the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since October 2011. In this capacity, she coordinates the department in charge with defining and implementing national economic diplomacy objectives, such as developing energy security policies and projects, strengthening relations with international and regional economic organisations and structures - including the OECD, monitoring economic and financial evolutions at the global level, liaising with the business environment - facilitating Romanian businesspeople access on foreign markets as well as attracting foreign investors to Romania etc. Before that, she was posted at the Permanent Mission of Romania to the United Nations - New York(2007-2011), in charge with political affairs in the Western Balkans, the Black Sea region, Central Asia, Cyprus, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the cooperation between the UN and regional and sub-regional organisations, democracy issues, peacebuilding, francophonie. Previous working experience includes: MFA Policy Planning, in charge with regional cooperation in the Black Sea area and bilateral political consultations with strategic partners; NGO project manager and trainer, including one year as vice-president of a European NGO in Brussels; research in international relations. She studied international relations at Panthéon-Assas – Paris II University (MA) and at the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, international law at New York University, and international business at the Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest (BA), the University of Sciences and Technologies of Lille and the French-Romanian Management Institute of Auvergne University. Fluent in English, French and Spanish, basic knowledge of Turkish.
