Successful concert of BiH artists at Carnegie Hall in New York City
Last night at a full Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, organized by the America-Bosnia Foundation and the Permanent Mission of BiH to the UN, a concert of artists from BiH and the U.S. was held.
America-Bosnia Foundation Executive Director Mak Kamenica welcomed the guests and announced speakers Mirsada Colakovic, Permanent Representative of BiH to the UN, Rosemary DiCarlo, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN, and Jan Eliasson, UN Deputy Secretary-General.
Pianists Dragan Opancic, Naomi Druskic, clarinetist Vedran Tuce, bass baritone Ivan Saric, and American artists - guitarist Tali Roth and pianist Simon Baron presented themselves to New York audiences.
Works of BiH composers Alisher Sijaric, Igor Karaca, Dino Residbegovic and Djordje Jovancica were performed.
Ambassador Mirsada Colakovic in her opening speech recalled the good cooperation of BiH with the U.S. representatives during the two-year membership in the UN Security Council. Talking about BiH cultural heritage, Ambassador Colakovic expressed satisfaction that young artists continue to cultivate our tradition and send a positive image of our country.
Rosmary DiCarlo, Ambassador to the Permanent Mission of the United States to the UN, congratulated the America-Bosnia Foundation in all activities and contributing to strengthening relations between BiH and the USA.
Jan Eliasson, UN Deputy Secretary General, said that BiH has remained a symbol of unity for the whole world, and that it is an important legacy that we leave to young people. Mr. Eliasson also reminded of some basic values of the UN, tolerance and coexistence.
The full Carnegie Hall concert was attended by numerous UN officials, ambassadors accredited to the UN, consuls-general, music critics and journalists, and BiH citizens who live in America.
